Word Chain Guides

Word Chain Examples That Actually Help In-Game

Examples only help if they look like turns a real player would actually use. A pretty chain full of obscure words is not worth much. The ones below are simple on purpose, because that is what survives in an actual run.

Good chains leave behind endings that are easy to continue from.Hard mode is mostly about noticing letter pairs earlier.Theme rounds are more fun when the base rule stays the same.

Easy and Normal examples

These work because the endings stay friendly. Letters like e, r, n, and t usually give the next player options. That matters more than trying to sound clever.

  • cloud -> dragon -> note -> ember
  • apple -> echo -> opal -> lunar
  • stone -> ember -> river -> rover

Hard mode examples (2-letter chaining)

Hard mode gets easier once you stop reading only the last letter. You need to notice the final pair before you hit submit, otherwise you keep handing yourself dead ends.

  • planet -> etch -> chalet -> etude
  • cabin -> inlay -> ayin
  • driver -> erode -> denim

Group round ideas

  • Play five turns using only animals.
  • Try cities and places with strict dictionary turned on.
  • Set a short timer and turn hints off if the room wants pressure.
