Terms of Service

Acceptance and eligibility

These Terms are between you and Wordchain Team, the operator of Word Chain. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use Word Chain. You must be at least 13 to use the service. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use Word Chain only with permission from a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf. Do not use the service if applicable law prohibits you from doing so.

The service and your account

Word Chain is a free browser word game. Many features work without Google sign-in. Optional account features use Google and Firebase Authentication, and Phrase mode may create an anonymous Firebase account so your browser can own a pass-the-phone session.

You are responsible for activity through your account or browser session and for keeping access to your Google account and device secure. Do not impersonate another person or choose a display name or player name that is unlawful, deceptive, abusive, or infringes another person’s rights.

Gameplay and leaderboard rules

Game scores, streaks, completion times, ranks, daily results, and other in-game items have no cash value and do not create a right to a prize. The game’s dictionary and phrase decisions are gameplay rules, not authoritative statements about language.

Leaderboard information is public and can include a display name, profile photo, account identifier, and result. We may reject, correct, hide, or remove runs and leaderboard entries that appear invalid, fraudulent, automated, manipulated, or abusive. We may change scoring, dictionaries, phrase packs, ranking rules, or reset leaderboards when reasonably needed for fairness or product changes.

Names and words you submit, and feedback

You keep any rights you have in names, words, messages, and feedback you submit. You give Word Chain a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, and process that material only as needed to operate, secure, moderate, improve, and support the service. Public leaderboard names and profile images can be displayed to anyone.

Do not submit sensitive personal information, confidential material, illegal content, malware, or material that infringes another person’s rights. You allow us to use suggestions and feedback without payment or an obligation to implement them, while personal information in feedback remains covered by the Privacy Policy.

Acceptable use

• Use the service lawfully and in good faith.
• Do not use bots, scripts, or exploit techniques to manipulate scores, streaks, or rankings.
• Do not scrape the service at unreasonable volume, reverse engineer protected parts of it except where law permits, bypass access controls, or evade security and App Check protections.
• Do not interfere with platform security, availability, other players, or data integrity, and do not attempt unauthorized access to accounts, sessions, data, or infrastructure.
• Do not use Word Chain to distribute spam, harassment, unlawful content, malicious code, or content that violates another person’s privacy or intellectual-property rights.

Third-party services

Word Chain depends on third-party services, including Google and Firebase services for authentication, cloud storage, functions, security, analytics, and fonts, plus Datamuse for word validation and suggestions. Your use of those services may also be governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

Intellectual property

Word Chain’s software, visual design, branding, illustrations, written guides, and other service materials are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the service for personal, non-commercial play. You may not copy, resell, sublicense, or redistribute protected service materials except with permission or where the law allows it. Third-party names, services, and content remain the property of their respective owners.

Privacy

The Privacy Policy explains how Word Chain handles browser storage, account data, gameplay and leaderboard information, Phrase sessions, feedback, analytics, and privacy requests. By using the service, you acknowledge those practices and the choices described there.

Suspension and termination

You may stop using Word Chain at any time. We may restrict, suspend, or terminate access; remove content; or invalidate leaderboard results when we reasonably believe these Terms were violated, the service or another person is at risk, the law requires it, or a feature is being discontinued. Provisions that by their nature should continue—including intellectual-property, disclaimer, liability, and general provisions—survive termination.

Availability and changes to the service

We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features, routes, game rules, storage behavior, or the service as a whole. We do not promise that Word Chain will always be available, error-free, secure, or compatible with every browser or device. We will try to avoid unnecessary disruption, but maintenance, outages, provider failures, and product changes can occur.

Disclaimers

Word Chain is provided for entertainment on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. We do not guarantee that a word, definition, phrase, score, rank, or third-party result is complete or correct. Some places do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Wordchain Team will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages; loss of data, goodwill, or opportunity; or losses arising from third-party services, unauthorized access, service interruptions, or use of the game. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded or limits mandatory consumer rights. Where a limitation is not permitted, liability is limited only to the extent the law allows.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms when the service or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top identifies the current version. Material changes will receive additional notice where required. Continuing to use Word Chain after revised Terms take effect means you accept them; if you do not agree, stop using the service.

Severability and general provisions

These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Wordchain Team about the service. If a provision is unlawful or unenforceable, it will be limited or removed only as much as necessary and the remaining provisions will stay in effect. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms without our consent; we may transfer these Terms as part of operating, financing, reorganizing, or transferring the service, subject to applicable law. Applicable law, including mandatory consumer law where you live, governs without taking away rights that cannot be waived by contract.
